A Bettor's Rant - Week 8 October 27th 2008 Here we go again. Another week of being on the wrong side of a blown
call by an NFL official. At least this time it wasn't Ed Hochuli, that guy
is already having a rough year. The Atlanta Falcons, down by 6 points,
were about to receive the football near mid-field with a little over 2 minutes
to go in the game when a phantom muffed punt call was made by an official.
Just our luck, we weren't under 2 minutes yet in the game so a booth review was
out of the question and the Falcons were also out of timeouts so they could not
challenge. The Eagles took possession and Westbrook scampered for a TD.
We are total losers as the Falcons get beat by more than 8.5 points. Skip to the
2:23 portion of this video if you want to watch the phantom muffed punt call.
As if the Falcons game wasn't enough torture, we ended up losing by a 1/2 point on
two of the early games. The Panthers did their best to cover but fell a
1/2 point short against the Cardinals and the Redskins added a field goal with 2
minutes left in their game to completely crush any hope we had for week 8.
