NFL Underdog Pick: Week 15
December 12th 2008 by Special K
Pittsburgh Steelers (+2) at Baltimore Ravens
First of all, we are on a roll lately with the underdog pick of the week. It has
been three straight winners! I don't see any reason why we won't make it
four in a row this weekend.
As one player put it, you can expect a bloodbath in this game. I was a
little surprised to see the Ravens actually favored in this matchup. The
Ravens do have the home field advantage but you've also got a rookie coach and a
rookie quarterback in a big time game going against the hottest defense in the
NFL right now. This game will definitely be determined by which offense
can make the fewest mistakes.
The Steelers come into this game relatively healthy, however, they may not leave
that way. Meanwhile, the Ravens were down to their 3rd running back option
in last week's game against the Redskins. Ray Rice is very questionable
for this game and McGahee wasn't able to finish last week's game because of a
shoulder issue. The Ravens are going to some sort of rushing attack to
keep the Steelers defense honest and to keep the pressure off of Joe Flacco.
I expect another tight close fought battle with the Steelers finding a way to
pull it out in the end just like they have been doing all season. Two
points is a lot of points to give when both defenses barely give up 10 points a
contest!
