NFL Underdog Pick: Week 17
December 26th 2008 by Special K
Kansas City Chiefs (+3) at Cincinnati Bengals
Our hot winning streak continues for the underdog of the week. It has
been FIVE straight weeks of picking nothing but winners! Let's see if we
can make it six in a row to close out the regular season. The only credit Herm
Edwards really deserves this season is that the Chiefs have been pretty decent
against the spread. The Chiefs actually have a winning record in that
category. Coming into this matchup, each team has a decisive advantage on
one side of the football. The Chiefs offense has been playing much better
than the Bengals offense while the Bengals defense has been better than the
Chiefs. The Bengals defense shutout the Browns last weekend in Cleveland
and in the last three games, the Bengals have only given up an average of 16
points. However, the Bengals offense has been scoring well under 16 points
in the last three games. Meanwhile, the Chiefs have really made great
strides on offense lately under Tyler Thigpen. The Chiefs scored 31 points
against a very stingy Miami defense last week in Arrowhead. I look for the
Chiefs to continue their offensive ways this weekend relying heavily on Tony
Gonzalez and Larry Johnson. The Chiefs record isn't indicative of their
performance at all this season. They should have won at least 4 games this
season blowing huge leads to San Diego and Tampa Bay
Yes, this is probably one of the least interesting games this weekend, but I
am putting my trust in Tyler Thigpen and the Chiefs offense to deliver.
Besides, the Bengals haven't won three games in a row since 2006. I look
for the Chiefs to get their first win outside their own division this weekend.
