NFL Underdog Pick: Week 2
September 12th 2008 by Special K
New England Patriots (+2.5) at New York Jets
What would
the point spread actually be if Tom Brady were playing in this game?
I'm guessing the line would have easily been 10+ points. Remember how
ridiculous the point spreads got last season when the Patriots were favored by 20+
points against the Jets at Foxboro? Well this week's point spread
is almost as ridiculous. How can the Patriots find themselves as an underdog when they have won
20 straight regular season games? This is just an insult to everyone on
the Patriot's team not named Tom Brady. You know what happens when the
Patriots have bulletin board material to work with, they always unite and remind
everyone that football is a team sport.
I see Bill Belichick and the Patriots going back to the formula that won them
the Super Bowl against the Rams. Matt Cassell will be called upon to
manage the game and try to play mistake free football. If this
happens, the Patriots will come away with their 21st straight regular season
win. Don't count the Patriots out just yet.
NOTE: The Patriots opened as 5-2 favorites to win the Super Bowl. The odds
for the Patriots are now 15-1, same as the New Orleans Saints.
