NFL Underdog Pick: Week 3

Carolina Panthers (+3.5) at Minnesota Vikings
It's desperate times for the Vikings as Gus Frerotte is their new solution at
the quarterback position. We are only into week 3 of the season and the
Vikings have already given up on the young Tavaris Jackson. Is the 37 year
old Frerotte, who filled in for Marc Bulger last season with the Rams, the
answer? At this point, the Vikings are probably regretting not making a
better offer for Sage Rosenfels in the offseason (read
more about the Vikings QB saga).
The Vikings may also be without the services of Adrian Peterson who is fighting
a hamstring injury and is now a game time decision. The other bad news for
the Vikings is that Steve Smith is returning from his suspension. The
Vikings can only hope that Smith is rusty and that he doesn't light up the
secondary like he did a few years ago. The Panthers are off to a great
start in 2008 and I see their winning ways continuing this weekend against the
offensively inept Vikings.
