San Francisco 49ers (+5) at New Orleans Saints
If you were able to get 8.5 points when this game opened, then congratulations!
Even 5 points for the 49ers this week against the wounded Saints is way too
generous. The Saints are completely falling apart. Jeremy Shockey is
the latest Saint out with a sports hernia. Left guard Jamar Nesbit has
been suspended for a steroids violation. Marques Colston who torched the
49ers for 3 touchdowns last season is still recovering as well, another break
for the 49ers.
Thanks to Mike Martz, the 49ers are a much improved team this season on offense.
J.T. O'Sullivan might be the steal of the season. How could Matt Millen
ever let him get away?
The 49ers offense will be able to easily keep pace with the Saints and control
the time of possession. The 49ers have the edge on defense allowing 100
fewer yards per game than the Saints. The 49ers also have a huge advantage
in the kicking game. Nedney is a great dome kicker and Gramatica is
probably still kicking himself over the 2 missed field goals against the Broncos
last week. I look for the 49ers to win this game outright.
