Week 5 Winner: Houston Texans Short Yardage Offense
Just when you start thinking that the Houston Texans are a legitimate contender,
they shoot themselves in the foot and blow an opportunity to win a game. This
time around the Texans had 2nd and goal at the Cardinals one yard line in the
final seconds and
failed to convert. This failure cost the Texans the game, plus they failed to
cover 5.5 point spread and we missed the
O/U by 1
point! The blocked Texans field goal attempt and Boldin's fumble at the Texans 2
yard line didn't help the over cause either. It looked like the Arizona Cardinals had already conceded the touchdown when they started
calling timeouts hoping to save enough time on the clock for Warner and the
Cardinals to get in field goal range after the kickoff.
How hard is it to just get one stinking
yard? Well, it is very hard for the Texans apparently. They had a 2nd and 1 deep
in Arizona territory in the 3rd quarter and failed to get 1 yard on the next
three downs.
Where have we seen this short yardage nonsense before? Oh yeah, it was only a
couple weeks ago against the Jaguars when the Texans were faced with a similar
situation. Skip ahead to the 3:46 portion of the video to refresh your memory.
Same outcome for the Texans and those who picked them again.
