Week 9 Winner: Teams that can't close the deal
There was no clear cut winner for our award in week 9. The Lions, Giants, and
Jaguars were all pathetic in how they finished their games and completely blew
covering the spread in the last minute.
Let's start with the Lions. Unless you are a Lions or Seahawks fan, I
seriously hope you did not watch this game. Anyways, if you were like me, you
were either watching another game and checking the scoreboard or refreshing the
scores on your cell phone. Whatever the case, you see the Lions up 17-0 plus you
are getting 10 points and think that this game is in the bag. Not even close.
Stafford's 5th interception returned for a TD with 22 seconds left sealed the deal. (SEAHAWKS
COVER)
If you checked out the score of the Jaguars game late in the 4th quarter, you
probably thought you had this game in the bag as well. The Jaguars favored by
6.5 points, blew a 24-6 lead with just under 3 minutes left in the game. How,
you ask? First someone on the Jaguars defense forgot to cover Chris Chambers as
he ran past the defense for a 51 yard strike. Then the Chiefs recovered the
onside kick and score once again. (CHIEFS COVER)
Last but not least there were the New York Giants. With just over 3 minutes left
to go, the Giants intercepted Rivers and had the ball at the San Diego three
yard line. A holding penalty and a few conservative runs plays later, the Giants
settled for a FG and the rest was history. It must of been a really good feeling
for Philip Rivers to stick it to the Giants.
We leave you highlights from the Lions game. Forward to 3:28 of the video to
watch the final dagger.
