2009 NFL Regular Season Wins Over/Under

It is time to start placing your NFL future bets before the start of the 2009 NFL season.  One of my favorite future bet is to play the regular season wins over and under. You can look at a regular season over/under bet as a long term investment with a payout in 2010 and no capital gains penalty!

For the 2009 season, the Patriots have the highest win total of 11.5 games. However, at most sportsbooks you need to lay down about $140 to win $100.  The Lions have the lowest over/under of just 4 games.

NOTE: Each one of these bets will have over and under odds. A sportsbook will generally keep the win total the same but adjust the over and odds depending on how bets are placed.

Lay down $140 to win $100 with the Patriots. The toughest games on their schedule are @Indy and at home against Baltimore and Tennessee.  With such a weak road schedule, the Patriots should post a record of 13-3 or better if they can manage to keep Brady healthy.

Get the feeling that the Cowboys are going to have a disastrous season?  The new stadium is already having issues with punters hitting the scoreboard.  Not only that, they have cleaned house on their roster and have not replaced all that talent. The Eagles and Giants are much better as well, so it is going to be difficult for the Cowboys to pull off a 10 win season in the NFC East.

Jacksonville is my favorite future bet.  Having only won 5 games last season, it is hard for me to see how the Jaguars are going to improve and win 8 games this season. The Jags also play in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL and every other team in that division is predicted to have more wins than them.
