Pilfo's Parlay for Week 2
September 17h 2009 - Pilfo
Tampa ran into a buzz saw of an offense last week vs. the
Cowboys but Tampa remained competitive throughout most of the game. Cadillac
Williams is back and the running game looks very good with Derrick Ward getting
some carries to relieve Williams. Big Byron had a reasonable game also. While I
don’t think Tampa is a top 10 team I think they will be able to stick with most
teams for most of the game on most weeks. The defense was solid also.
Buffalo had their Super Bowl in week one and as usual they disappointed their
fans in the late stages. They outplayed New England for most of the game but
Buffalo is not a team that can pull away from any reasonable team. I expect them
to have a letdown this week. Even without the letdown the spread is way too big
to justify. Buffalo is a bottom 10 team.
Prediction: Tampa 20 Buffalo 17.
The Jets played well enough last week to be playoff contenders. Their defense
was amazing holding the Texans offense to 0 points on the road. Sanchez showed
he can play in the NFL at NFL speeds. The jets running game was spot on with
Thomas Jones impressing once again and Leon Washington taking some carries to
relieve Jones. Rex Ryan is on a mission this year to prove he can be a head
coach. The big question mark was Sanchez. One week does not make a man but it
sure doesn’t hurt.
New England has some weak spots in their lines and Buffalo exploited them. While
New England is still a top 10 team I believe they have lost a step as a team. I
believe New England will improve as the season goes on so now is the time to
take advantage of the respect they still get in the point spreads.
Prediction: Jets 24 Pats 17.
San Francisco won last week vs. the Super Bowl runner-ups but according to
insiders Mike Singletary expected no less. The Niner’s offensive line looked a
bit iffy but Singletary is already making adjustments to improve this week. The
passing game was above average; the running game did what it had to do although
the stats were not impressive. The defense was amazing though. Last year the
Niner’s had the 13th overall defense and Singletary has improved on this during
the off-season. Defense wins championships.
Seattle dismantled the lowly Rams last week, as they should have. The running
game looked good the passing game looked good and the defense looked good. So
why pick the Niner’s? Seattle played a high school team in the Rams last week.
Now the Hawks play against an NFL team this week. This game, as early as it is
in the season, will give the winner the advantage to the division championship
this year. I believe the Niner’s defense will get to Hasselbeck and cause havoc
to the entire Seahawk offense.
Prediction: SF 24 Seahawks 10.
3 Team Parlay: TB +4.5 / Jets +3.5 / S.F. –1.5 |
