Pilfo's Parlay for Week 5
October 9th 2009 - Pilfo
The 0-3 Carolina Panthers have too much talent to just lay down and die after 3
games. The Panthers came out flat against Philly in their opener and then
proceeded to lose two road games to decent teams. Now they have had two weeks
because of their early bye to game plan for Washington this week. Carolina is
hungry for a win and they get it this week.
The Redskins are the most pathetic 2-2 team in the league. After coming out in
their opener against the Giants and playing well, they have embarrassed the D.C.
fans to no end. They beat two horrible teams at home by 2 and 3 points and they
give the Lions their first victory in about 200 years I think. I don't think the
Skins can hang with the better teams and the season is going to be a long one
with the division they are in.
Prediction: Carolina 27-10
After beating up on St. Louis in week one (as they should have) The Seahawks
have dropped 3 straight games to good opponents. The last two were without their
starting qb Matt Hasselbeck and the Seahawks were without several players due to
injury. This Seattle ball club is much better than people think and they get
their qb back this week. Seattle is a tough place for opposing teams to play and
Seattle is loaded with offensive weapons.
Jacksonville is a team that has surprised many this year including myself. It
appears they actually have an offense. After dropping their first two to good
opponents the Jags have put together a two game winning streak. David Garrard
has stepped up and played the best ball I have ever seen him play but alas all
good things must come to an end and be exposed. Garrard will make several
mistakes this week between the crowd noise and the pass rush of the Seahawks.
Prediction: Seattle 24-17
Houston is one of those teams that opponents hate to practice and game plan for.
They are capable of scoring on any play. Matt Schaub, when healthy is as good as
95% of the qbs in the league and Warner is not one of the 5%. I believe Houston
will move the ball at will against this shadow of last year's Cardinal team.
The Arizona Cardinals have some great offensive weapons but I believe their star
quarterback is still hurting from off season hip surgery and from being 1 year
older than last year. Against easy opponents the Cards should roll but against
the better teams in the league Warner will not be able to come through this
year. Look for Leinart to enter around game 7 vs. Carolina.
Prediction: Houston 38-28
3 Team Parlay:
Carolina -3.5
/ Seattle -1 / Houston +5.5
