NFL Underdog Pick for Week 1
September 7th 2012 - Special K
Buffalo Bills (+3) at New York Jets
Yes, Rex Ryan and the Jets own the Bills. The Jets
have won the last 5 games and covered the spread in 4 out of the 5 meetings. The
Bills were 5-2 last year when they faced the Jets at home for the first time.
The Bills lost and ended up going on a 7 game losing streak.
However, this is a new season and the Bills have revamped their defense front by
acquiring Mario Williams from the Texans and Mark Anderson from the Patriots.
The Jets offensive line is unsettled and a complete mess at tackle right now. Their starting right tackle Wayne
Hunter was shipped to the Rams. I see the Jets having some serious issues trying to
contain the Bills new defensive front.
Fred Action Jackson is also healthy and so
isn't Eric Wood, one of the top centers in the league. CJ Spiller filled in very
well for the injured Jackson last season so the Bills have a lot of depth at RB.
The Bills have a big advantage over the Jets when it comes to the running game.
The Jets offense looked pathetic in the preseason. Supposedly, the Jets will be
throwing in some wildcat packages with Tebow behind center. I don't see this
making much of an impact on the game. The cameras will most certainly be focused
on the sidelines where we will see a pissed off Sanchez with his arms crossed
wondering when he is going back into the game. Who knows how Santonio Holmes is
going to react either. I am looking forward to the drama and media circus in this one.
The Bills got their monkey off their backs last season when they finally beat
the Patriots. This week Fitzpatrick will get his first win over the Jets.
Take the Bills to win outright
