NFL Underdog Pick for Wildcard Weekend
January 4th 2013 - Special K
Cincinnati Bengals
(+4.5) at Houston Texans
Since the Bengals were the only underdog I picked
this weekend, they default as my underdog pick of the week! I expect a defensive
battle Satuday in Houston and 4.5 points is just too many point to be laying in
one these types of games. You could argue that the Bengals had the top rated
defense in the 2nd half of the 2012 season. They gave up less than 13 points per
game during this span. The Bengals defense also ranked 2nd in sacks and 6th in
turnovers. Zimmer has done a fantastic job with this unit and will most likely
be recruited for one of the many head coaching openings. Actually, the current
Bengals defensive squad reminds me a lot of the Texans defense that started the
season before all the injuries decimated their defense.
Matt Schaub reminds me a little of Joe Flacco in that pressure bothers him and I
think the Bengals defense will be able to rattle him. Also remember that Matt
Schaub has yet to play in a playoff game. I like Dalton and the Bengals with the
points in this one. This game sets up nicely for a 16-13 or 20-17 final score.
Take the Bengals and the points
