NFL Underdog Pick for Week 6
October 12th 2012 - Special K
Dallas Cowboys (+3.5) at Baltimore Ravens
Guess who will be back in the Cowboys starting
lineup against the Ravens? Jay Ratliff. If you are expecting Ray Rice to run all
over the Cowboys 15th ranked rush defense, think again. Ratliff is a difference
maker and a key cog that was missing in the Cowboys defense this season. He
should give the Cowboys defense a needed lift against the Ravens this weekend.
Bruce Carter is also the Cowboys best cover linebacker. His athletic ability
will cause problems for the Ravens offense when they run those screens and check
downs to Rice. I like how the Cowboys defense matches up with the Ravens
offense. With the exception of covering Marshall a couple weeks ago, the
secondary has played very well and the Cowboys defense should force Flacco into
making a couple mistakes.
The Ravens have not looked that great on offense the last two games and they
played against the Browns and Chiefs. The Ravens were even outgained by the
Chiefs in total yardage last week. Maybe they were sleepwalking through those
games, but to me, the Ravens are starting to look like the limited offense that
they had last season. The no huddle approach doesn't seem to be working as it
has put more pressure on an aging defense when they go 3 and out.
The Cowboys have also struggled on the offensive side of the ball, but Tony Romo
has still been successful airing the ball out, averaging 295+ passing yards per
game. All I keep hearing this week is how the Cowboys need to run the ball more,
but if I were them, I would try to exploit the Ravens 22nd ranked pass defense.
Tony Romo will take much better care of the football in this game. I like the
Cowboys in an upset here. Besides, the Ravens can't go up 2.5 games on the
Steelers this early into the season :)
Take the Cowboys and the points
