Free Thursday Night Pick - Bears at Packers
Special K - 09/13/2012
Thursday Night Pick:
Chi +6
The Chicago Bears upgraded their offense during the offseason. Think about last
season, Jay Cutler was throwing to Roy Williams and was in a Mike Martz scheme
that got him nearly decapitated each week. Now, Brandon Marshall
and Jay Cutler are reunited after spending three seasons apart. While
in Denver, the two hooked up for 2,500+ yards and 13 TD's in two seasons. They
are off to a great start in 2012 putting up 119 yards and 1 TD last week against
the Colts. In addition to acquiring Marshall, the Bears drafted WR Alshon Jeffrey
from South Carolina. He was considered a top prospect a year ago and fell
to the Bears in the 2nd round of the draft.
The 49ers provided the Bears with a blueprint for how to beat the Packers. The
Packers defense gave up 5.8 yards per rush which should make Matt Forte and
Michael Bush drool. The 49ers were also the worst team in the red zone last year
and the Packers defense couldn't stop them once last week. The Packers defense
thrived on turnovers last season. When their defense can't generate the
turnovers, teams can put up a lot of points on them. With the new
offensive additions, I expect the Bears to match the Packers offensive power.
The Packers will most likely be without Greg Jennings as well. Time to grab
Randall Cobb or James Jones if you play fantasy!
Six points is just way too many points to be spotting here against a much
improved Bears team.
I like the Bears.
