NFL Best Bets for Week 10
November 8th 2014 - Old Man Winner
Ari -7 vs. Stl
It happens maybe a couple times a year. One team has the misfortune of being
handed a schedule that includes 3 consecutive road games. This week the Rams
have just that - a third consecutive road game. I don't know what the exact
stats are in the third road game, but I know they are not good. That is one of
the few remaining factors that does not seem to get reflected in the spread.
The Rams also won in an upset against the 49ers last week on the last play of
the game. Games like that are often followed duds due to the lingering
celebration.
OK, let's look at the game flow. The Rams simply don't put points up - they are
29th in scoring. They are against a very good defense that ranks 4th in points
scored against. I just don't see how the Rams put up more than 10-13 points
playing tired against an aggressive defense. I fully expect at least a couple of
interceptions and wouldn't be surprised by at least one being a pick 6.
On the other side of the ball, the Cardinals are putting up an average of 24 pts
a game and Arians, who is clearly in front for this year's coach of the year, is
maximizing all of his offensive weapons. Also, Carson Palmer just inked a $50
Million contract extension today and will be anxious to prove he was worth it.
