NFL Best Bets for Week 5
October 3rd 2014 - Old Man Winner
NYG - 4 vs. Atl
Make no mistake, the Giants defense has holes. So, why do I love them so much
this week against the number one offense in the league? Because now the Falcons
offensive line has more holes than Krispy Kreme!
The Falcons lost three offensive linemen last week and they had to close the
game out with a tight end playing tackle. That can't be good against a defense
on the come and in the top third of the league in pressures and sacks. Look for
New York to bring a lot of pressure against this seriously depleted line and
have success doing so. I especially love this matchup because the Falcons love
to throw the ball down the field more than most teams, and we all know that that
requires time - something that they will not have much of on Sunday. I wouldn't
be surprised to see Ryan get sacked a handful of times or even get hurt.
On the other side of the ball, the Giants seem to have found their stride and
Eli and the offense are starting to get more comfortable in their new quick
strike, rhythm offense with Eli calling more plays from the line of scrimmage.
Besides, their offensive line has been relatively healthy and creating good
blocking lanes for their backs against a Falcon rush defense that ranks 28th in
the league.
The Giants do have a weakness against the long ball, and I do expect Atlanta to
hit one or two of those and put up some points. Its just that I expect the
Giants to force some key turnovers and also put up a big number themselves.
