NFL Best Bets for Week 8
October 25th 2014 - Old Man Winner
Ind -3 vs. Pit
Yes, I am officially in love with Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts! I am
not ashamed to admit it. This is the third time in the last five weeks I am
picking them as my best bet of the week. Let's review the results from the last
two times I have picked them. In week 4, when they were 7.5 pt favorites on the
road at Tennessee, they won the game 41-17, and covered the spread by a whopping
16.5 pts. They were also our best bet last week when they were a 3 point road
favorite in Cincinnati. They won 27-0 and covered that spread by a decisive 24
points.
When are the Colts going to get the respect they deserve? Along with Denver,
they are playing the best football in the NFL!!!!
OK, Pittsburgh is a real team, but their linebackers are not going to be able to
keep up with the TE's from Indy. Wayne is out and that will hurt, Luck really
likes to go to him when they need the tough yards, but I'm confident that the
replacement will be ready to go - looking like it will likely be the rookie,
Moncrief. Pittsburgh likes to throw the ball deep, but I trust the Colts
secondary to keep things in front of them and make Pittsburgh be patient, which
Big Ben doesn't like to do. I think the Colts will create a couple of key
turnovers and win that battle.
I expect Luck to mess with the Steelers safeties that like to jump routes. I can
already see Colt receivers making double moves to create space and Luck hitting
them deep. Like Houston last week, I see the Colts focusing on the run game in
the first half with success and then using play-action to hit a couple of long
balls late in the first half.
The Steelers played Monday night, and they always perform well on that stage.
However, there is usually a drop-off in their following game - Steelers are
0-4-1 on Sunday games following a Monday night game.
