We have two completely new head coaches in Houston and Washington. Bill O'Brien
joins a Texans team that is coming off of a 2 win season. O'Brien was the
Patriots offensive coordinator before taking over the Penn State program that
had just endured the Jerry Sandusky scandal. O'Brien finished 15-9 overall at
Penn St. which isn't bad considering all the probations.
Meanwhile, Jay Gruden takes over a Redskins squad that completely fell apart and
only managed to win 3 games in 2013. Jay Gruden was a very good offensive
coordinator while at Cincinnati. When I look at this matchup and analyze both
teams, Jay Gruden simply has more talent to work with on offense than do the
Texans. That is the major edge that the Redskins have over the Texans in this
matchup. Listen, we all know Ryan Fitzpatrick is not a starting QB in the NFL.
The Redskins have the better QB in RG III who appears to be 100% healthy again.
The Redskins also have more weapons at wide receiver with the addition of DeSean
Jackson. RG III will be able to elude the Texans pass rush. The Redskins should
be able to make more plays at the end of the game to pull out a road win at
Houston. It is going to take some time for O'Brien to turn this Texans ship
around.
