NFL Underdog Pick Week 11
November 15th 2014 - Special K
Philadelphia Eagles (+6) at Green Bay
Packers
With over 80% of the public bets on the side of the Packers this week, I feel
pretty good about being a contrarian and rolling with the Eagles this week. I'm
getting 6 points with a great team that has won 14 out of their last 17 games
under Chip Kelly. Also, the Eagles 2 losses this year were by less than 6 points
and came against two pretty good teams in the Cardinals and 49ers.
I know what you are thinking right now. Butt fumbler Sanchez sucks, how can he
beat Aaron Rodgers? I've watched Mark Sanchez in both the Texans and Panthers
game and he is not a dropoff from Nick Foles. In fact he offers a little more
mobility than Foles. Sanchez will need that mobility on Sunday as he tries to
escape from Clay Matthews. If Sanchez doesn't revert back into the turnover
machine that he was with the Jets, the Eagles will stay close to the Packers in
this football game. The Eagles have the firepower on offense to do it. The
turnover differential will be a huge factor in this game so Sanchez really needs
to be secure with the football since Aaron Rodgers has not even thrown a single
interception at Lambeau yet this season.
Let's not get carried away with the Packers thrashing of the Bears last weekend
either. As I see it, the Packers have faced 4 tough teams so far this season in
the Lions, Dolphins, Seahawks, and Saints. They have a 1-3 record against those
teams and the one win came on a last second pass. I look for the Eagles to get
their running game going this week against one of the league's worst rush
defenses. That is the reason you saw Clay Matthews playing at middle linebacker
against the Bears.
One thing that has puzzled me all year with the Eagles is the lack of touches
that Darren Sproles gets. Sproles always seems to make huge plays so Chip give
him the ball more!!!
I expect a playoff atmosphere at Lambeau and I expect the Eagles to cover this
football game.
