NFL Best Bets for Week 1
September 9th 2015 - Old Man Winner
Mia -3.5 @ Was
Lord, I hate starting out the year picking a road favorite, but have you seen
Washington's offensive line? Have you seen Miami's defensive line? I'm almost
fearing for Kirk Cousin's life. I can already see it, Ndamukong Suh standing
over Kirk Cousins in the first quarter after one of his classic bull rushes and
saying something to the effect, "Wassup Cuz? We're gonna be seeing a lot of each
other today."
Washington will not be able to move the ball on a very stingy defense and
Cousins has a reputation of turning the ball over if pressured, and the pressure
will be intense and consistent all day. We will learn early this season that the
better days of Alfred Morris, Desean Jackson, and Pierre Garcon are behind them
and Washington will begin testing the younger players before the midway point of
the season. Not that that will help much. I expect the Redskins to have an
absolutely putrid season and for Jay Gruden to get fired, maybe before its even
over. Hopefully brother Jon will save him a spot in the FFCA (Fired Football
Coaches of America).
On the other side of the ball, Miami will establish the run with an improving
ground game and then work the middle of the field with a good assortment of
quality receivers (Landry, Jennings, Parker) before taking a couple of deep
shots using Stills.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see Miami score on a defensive touchdown late in
the game.
