Objects May Appear Larger Than They Actually Are !
For those that use the rear view mirror to peer into the future - Beware!
Objects may appear larger than they actually are!!!
For those prognosticators looking at the last four meetings between these two
teams, dating back to 2007, they are likely focused on a Pats team that was
favored in each, but failed to cover in any and lost outright in the last three.
However, these Giants are not your older brother's Giants. They do not have the
defensive line or, more specifically the pass rush, that those teams had. The
pass rush was the key in each of those games - two Super Bowls included, and
those conditions certainly do not apply today.
No, this Giants defense has more holes than a Krispy Kreme doughnut factory. I'm
sure you all saw the game a couple weeks back where they dropped a 49 spot on
the Saints . . . AND LOST!!! Are you kidding me? This Giants offense may be able
to put up some points, but it will not be able to hang with a high powered Pats
offense that cannot wait to settle a score that may only exist in their mind.
For those of you that follow the psyche of the Pats in the Beli/Brady era you
know that not all games are created equal. Although you'll never hear them say
it, they do circle certain games on the calendar. They use 'scores to be
settled' as a motivator. And, in those games, they love to run up the score. You
won't see them running out the clock, you won't see them in a prevent defense.
You will see them piling it on. That is what I expect in this game.
The Pats use 'quick' better than any team in the NFL; quick releases by Brady,
quick snaps, quick receivers, and defenders quick to the ball. There are certain
teams that appear slow to me when I watch them - the Lions come immediately to
mind, but so do the Giants.
Here's what I expect in this game. As usual, the Pats will take away the
opposing teams biggest weapon. In this case that will be Odell Beckham Jr. The
Pats will play a very vanilla defense tempting NY to run the ball. I do expect
the Giants to put up 23-27 points. However, I do not expect the Giants to stop
the Pats offense at all. The Pats will use the pass to set up the run. They will
get up early with tons of short passing and a hurry up offense. Once they get up
they will begin to pound Blount, who is fresh from non-use and has been waiting
for a game like this. NE will not take their foot off the gas and should run up
the score in the 4th quarter.
