NFL Best Bets for Week 12
November 28th 2015 - Old Man Winner
Hou -3 vs. N.O.
Watt you say?
We all know who the star of this Houston Texans team is, right? DeAndre Hopkins
! Watt?????
Yes, JJ Watt is a stud and unquestionably one of the best players in the league,
but now so is DeAndre Hopkins. This guy is ridiculous. Did you know that Houston
has the 6th most prolific passing offense in the league - over the likes of Cin,
Den, GB, Ind, NYG, and Pit. And, they are doing it with quarterbacks named Ryan
Mallet, TJ Yates, and Brian Hoyer. It doesn't seem to matter to Hopkins - he was
doing it last year and the year before that with a revolving door of QB's. Just
get it close and he will catch it.
This week sets up quite nicely for the Texans as the New Orleans Saints come
into town. As we know, they have been one of the worst defenses in the league,
against both the pass (#31) and the run (#29), and we all know that Drew Brees
rarely plays well on the road, especially when outdoors.
The Texans have won 4 of their last 5, find themselves tied at the top of the
AFC South and in contention for the first time in several years. The Saints on
the other hand are on a two game losing streak to sub-par teams (Ten and Was),
and barely squeaked out the one before that against the Giants after giving up
49 pts.
The Saints are coming off a bye after firing their Defensive Coordinator, Rob
Ryan, and are purportedly shifting their defensive philosophy to a much less
risky scheme. I think this will likely help them in general, but that doesn't
change a defense void of talent, that also just placed one of their corners on
season-ending IR today.
I like the Texans to win this one pretty handily.
