Do What Wall Street Does . . . .
What do Mutual Fund Managers do right before the end of the year? They buy the
hot stocks. The name stocks. The ones that have done well and everyone is
clammering for. Why? Because those stocks will show up in their ownership
portfolios the following year. It makes them look like they've owned that stock
for awhile . . . like they knew what they were doing and they didn't miss the
hot stocks.
That's what this pick feels like to me this week. I want to be on the Steeler
bandwagon. I want to be associated with one of the hottest teams in football.
They are on a roll and I want part of that sandwich! OK, OK, enough of the
clichés.
When I watch the Steelers I see a team that is simply faster than every other
team . . . kinda like watching the Lions, but the opposite. And, they couldn't
have a more perfect QB for a team with speed - one that can hold the ball a
split second longer than most due to his physical beastlyness and heave it "over
that mountain". Their defense doesn't matter much as long as they can hold
opponents to under 30 they have a good shot at winning.
Yes, giving 10 points on the road sounds like a lot. Yes, the Ravens have
traditionally been very tough at home and always tough against division foes.
However, the Ravens aren't the Ravens this year due to a landslide of injuries
(Be ready to take the Over on Season Wins next year). When you hear things like
"the Ravens are hopeful Matt Schaub can go," you know they are in trouble.
Besides, their secondary has more holes than a skeetball gallery and they are
currently on their 4th string RB.
The only risk here will be a back door cover if Pittsburgh is so far ahead late
in the game that they pull some players to protect them from injury. Even if
they did I don't think it would matter much based on Pittsburgh's depth.
This might be one of the easiest games this year. Give yourself a belated
Christmas gift and take the Steelers.
