NFL Best Bets for Week 2
September 19th 2015 - Old Man Winner
Ari -2 @ Chi
Yes, I'm playing with fire! A second consecutive week taking a road favorite.
Usually not smart, but hey, it worked pretty well last week when the Dolphins
covered comfortably on the road at Washington. This week its more of the same -
sticking with the KISS strategy - Keep It Simple, Stupid. No stats/no trends/no
field or weather bias, just take the better team . . . at almost every position.
In the last two seasons when Carson Palmer is healthy and playing the Cardinals
win . . . a lot. And, if they don't win, they almost always cover. Palmer looked
good last week and has a nice cadre of WR's, and yes, he even found his tight
end last week. Alright, alright, I know that Andre Ellington is out and the
Cardinals are rolling with CJ2OLD (just made that up and chuckled at myself out
loud). Is that a downgrade at RB? Yes, but what that means is simply that Palmer
will pass more. Something that is in our favor. Arians loves to take shots down
the field, and when you have three guys that can make those plays against a very
mediocre secondary (albeit improved from LY), I like it. I like it a lot.
All that said, I may be even more excited about what's going to happen on the
other side of the ball. Arizona held the Saints to just 50 yards on the ground
last week. Can you say STOUT? I'm sure the Bears will do better than that, but
they won't be able to run for first downs. They will be forced to put the game
in Jay Cutler's hands. Cutler is still learning the new offense (his fourth in 5
years - I wonder why). Jeffries, the Bears best WR is questionable and Brandon
Marshall is gone. I don't think the Bears can beat the Cardinals throwing all
day to Matt Forte and Martellus Bennett. I expect a ton of pressure on Cutler
all day - maybe five or six sacks.
I also think the Cardinals score at least one TD on defense or special teams.

ps - I also love the Rams this week against the Redskins. Miami played poorly
last week and still covered comfortably. The Rams are monsters and should crush
Washington this week.
