NFL Best Bets for Week 3
September 25th 2015 - Old Man Winner
Chickety China the Chinese Chicken
Indy -3 @ Ten
I couldn't help but think of the Naked Ladies song One Week when starting to
write today's Best Bet. In the tune there's a line that goes, "because I'm all
about value." The line on this game represents tons of that . . . value! C'mon,
does Vegas really think this is a field goal game? That's crazy with a capital
'C'.
Who remembers this exact situation from last year? The Colts come out and lose
their first two games of the season against two good teams - Denver and
Philadelphia. So, they are 0-2. Week 3 they have to travel to a weaker division
opponent, Jacksonville. Vegas makes them a 6 pt favorite on the road. The
outcome? The Colts absolutely crush the Jags 44-17 against a rookie QB playing
in his third NFL game.
Fast Forward to this year. The Colts come out and lose their first two games of
the season against two good teams - Buffalo and NYJets. So, they are 0-2. Week 3
they have to travel to a weaker division opponent, Tennessee. Vegas makes them
only a 3.5 pt. favorite on the road against a rookie QB playing in his third NFL
game.
Chickety China the Chinese Chicken . . . . Cuz I'm all about value!
Isn't this all you need to know?
Ya ya, Luck has the most turnovers of any QB over the last 16 weeks of regular
season play and has 5 turnovers already this year. Indy's secondary is all
banged up and the older veterans (Andre Johnson and Frank Gore) that were
brought in to shore up the offense have not performed well. I know all that. But
consider that Indy has won the last 7 straight against the Titans, by an average
of 11 points, and 12 of the last 13 against them. This is OWNAGE, boys.
Sometimes picking winners isn't Trigonometry - gladly give the paltry 3.5 pts
and take the Colts in a laugher.
Indy 44 Ten 17 (just to nail the symmetry completely)
ps - I also love the Rams this week against the Redskins. Miami played poorly
last week and still covered comfortably. The Rams are monsters and should crush
Washington this week.
