NFL Underdog Pick Week 7
October 24th 2015 - Special K
Dallas Cowboys (+3.5) at New York Giants
What do we know about Matt Cassel?
•
Cassel is in his 11th season and got to start after Brady went down in the 1st
game of the 2008 season. He lead the Patriots to a 11-5 record and then played
for the Chiefs and Vikings.
•
Cassel has a career completion percentage of 59% and a QB rating of 80.1 over
his career. Cassel has won 34 games and lost 39 games.
Alright, so Cassel is just a slightly better option at QB, if any, over Brandon
Weeden who lost 11 straight games and 11 games against the spread. As a head
coach you just have to pull the plug and make a change when a QB and team keeps
losing like that.
Anyways, so why do I like the Cowboys against the Giants this week?
The Cowboys are getting healthy on defense with Randy Gregory returning plus
Hardy and McClain are also back. Listen the Cowboys sacked Tom Brady 5 times in
the 1st half. Brady wasn't sacked that many times all year. Did you see how much
trouble the Giants offensive line had against the Eagles Monday Night? The
Cowboys defense should have just as much success on Sunday.
The Cowboys had two weeks to get ready for this game while the Giants are coming
off of a Monday Night game. That is also a big advantage.
Also, don't let that week 1 game fool you between these two teams. The Cowboys
dominated that game for all intensive purposes. It was turnovers that cost the
Cowboys and actually kept the Giants in the game. The Giants were outgained 436
yards to 289 yards.
The Eagles managed 158 yards on the ground against the Giants.
The Cowboys will go ground and pound as well and slow down the game. With the improvement in the Dallas defense,
I expect this to be a low scoring contest and oh yeah, the Cowboys have won 5
straight against the Giants.
Take the Cowboys and the points
