NFL Underdog Pick Week 13
December 2nd 2016 -
Special K
New York Giants (+6) at
Pittsburgh Steelers
I currently have a 10-1-1 ATS record on my Underdog of the Week selections this
season. Yes, it is borderline absurdity but let's see if we can keep on rolling.
At this point in the streak, I almost feel like I could pick any underdog team
and it is going to come through.
With Andrew Luck out with a concussion last week, I don't know how many of you
were even interested in watching the Steelers and the Colts play. If you didn't
watch the game, don't let the 28-7 final score fool you. Scott Tolzien, who was
drafted in 1998 finally got his chance to start a football game and the Steelers
defense allowed him to pass for 241 yards while completing 62% of his passes.
Had it not been for two 4th and goal miscues by the Colts, the Colts would have
covered the spread. Let's not forget that TY Hilton exited the game early with
an injury and he also dropped a wide open touchdown pass.
The Giants are a more balanced team on both sides of the football. If Tolzien
could have success against this Steelers defense, Eli is going to pick them
apart. Moving Beckham around in different formations to create more space is
paying off big time for the Giants as well as Jennings being healthy enough to
have defenses respect the run. As well, the Giants defense has been getting
better each week. JPP is causing havoc again and the Giants GM has to feel
pretty good about trading up for Landon Collins in 2nd round of the 2015 draft.
The press keeps saying that the Steelers are loaded on offense. They really
aren't. The Steelers offense is all about Big Ben making big pass plays to AB.
If the Steelers had Bryant and Wheaten available, I could potentially see them
covering a 6 point spread but not in this spot. I had handicapped the Steelers
as a 3 point favorite in this game, so I am rolling with the GMen and taking the
value this week.
Take the Giants and the points
