NFL Best Bets for Week 17
December 30th 2017 - Old Man Winner
Jax +3.5 @ Ten
Last week's best bet was also Jacksonville. They played their worst game of
the year giving up 44 points to the up-and-coming San Francisco Garrapolos. That
didn't go the way I thought it would, but that is also the reason I'm so bullish
on the Jags again this week.
Many pundits are declaring that the Jags have nothing to play for, after locking
up their AFC South crown last week stating that the game only shuffles who they
may play in the playoffs. However, some coaches, don't think that way. I think
Doug Marrone is one of those coaches.
Here are some quick bullets as to why I love Jacksonville this week:
- They got beat by an inferior team last week
- Their defense got embarassed by giving up 44 points when they were being
touted as the best defense in the league
- No coach, or team, likes to back into the playoffs on a two-game losing streak
- Their coach was adamant this week that they would not rest any of their
players and would be giving 100% to win the game
- They are simply a much better team than the Titans
- They are getting 3.5 points
OK, so you can't believe everything coaches say, but I heard the tone. This
wasn't a Bill Belicheck monotoned, canned delivery, void of emotion. This was a
legit tone of frustration and a coach that wasn't about to lay down. I believed
him. He wants to win. He is a believer in the win every game philosophy.
I think Jacksonville rebounds here with a solid defensive effort and strong help
from their run game in a low scoring affair.
