NFL Best Bets for Week 8
October 27th 2018 - Old Man Winner
IND -3 at Oak
These are two teams headed in different directions.
The Colts are the best 2-5 team in the NFL. I hate when commentators say those
things. In this case, it only means they need to be better than the lowly
Buffalo Bills (the only other 2-5 team). I guess I understand the point. The
point is the Colts are a much better team than their record would suggest.
Andrew Luck has shaken off most or all of the rust from sitting out a full
season and is back slinging the pigskin in his prime. He has thrown for 15 TD's
in his last four games and actually has the highest number of QB fantasy points
over that span. T. Y. Hilton is back healthy. RB Marlon Mack is looking like
he'll play and the defense, although certainly not great, has shown signs of
life holding Buffalo to a single field goal last week.
The Raiders, on the other hand, are a hot mess. They are juggling several
scandals at once and I'm sure Chucky is probably wishing he could crawl back
into his South Florida film room and be back doing his QB camp videos. Trust me
Gruden had a lot more fun having Luck explain Spider 2 Y Banana https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0PY-POQbEo
(skip to minute 9) than he'll have this week watching Luck pick his team apart
on the field this Sunday. Unfortunately, he's got distractions to boot,
including CryGate, TradeGate, and VegasGate all at the same time. It is clear
that the organization has given up on this season after trading Khalil Mack and
Amari Cooper. They have also lost starting running back Marshawn Lynch to an
injury. Thank goodness Gruden's on a 10-year contract!
I'm sure the Raiders will try to use all these issues as a rally cry and I
wouldn't be surprised if they catch a team in a trap game soon. I just don't
think it will be this one.
I look for Andrew Luck to have another great game against this extremely porous
defense and shred it. Oakland could put up a few numbers, but I think this one
will be in the bag early.
