Betting Trends: AFC vs NFC
September 7th 2007 by Special K
As I watched the Saints get crushed by the Colts last night, I kicked myself for
not following a trend that has been happening in the NFL. Since week 8 of
the 2006 season, the AFC has beaten the point spread 72% of the time when
playing an NFC rival. One explanation may be that the AFC is by far a stronger conference. Teams
that finished 8-8 last year such as the the Jaguars, Steelers, or Bengals would
most likely have made the playoffs if they were in the NFC. We will keep
an eye on this trend throughout the 2007 NFL season.
