1st Quarter Report - Key Offseason Acquisitions October 8th 2007
by Special K
Here are the top 5 key acquisitions teams made during the
2007 offseason. These acquisitions have paid huge dividends so far for
their respective teams.
1. Randy Moss Randy Moss, one of the most talented wide receivers, was
traded to the New England Patriots for a 4th round draft pick. All he has done
so far in 2007 is rack up 7 touchdowns and 551 yards receiving which is just 2
yards shy of his total as a Raider all of last year. Here is some vintage video
of what the Raiders gave up.
2. Daunte Culpepper Even though the Raiders gave up Moss for hardly anything,
they did manage to sign Daunte Culpepper. Daunte Culpepper was released by the
Dolphins in July and picked up by the Raiders right before the season started.
Here is some video of Daunte getting revenge on his former team who had given up
on him.
3. Matt Schaub The backup to Michael Vick for 3 years was traded to the
Texans in March of 2007 for some draft picks. Schaub has led the Texans to
their best start in franchise history and has thrown for almost 1300 yards and 5
touchdowns. The Falcons can use some of those draft picks to try and find a new
QB.
4. Adalius Thomas Linebacker Adalius Thomas was signed as a free agent this
offseason by the Patriots. He fits perfectly into the Patriots team first
concept and is a great replacement for the departed Willie McGinest. Adalius
Thomas' departure from the Ravens is one of the main reasons why the Ravens
defense is less productive and hasn't been as dominant this year.
5. Jason Garrett Dallas hired former Miami Quarterback coach Jason Garrett
as offensive coordinator this year. Jerry Jones worried look is gone and he is
once again smiling in the booth. The Cowboys have averaged nearly 38 points each
game and their offense is looking like the 1990's Super Bowl teams with Aikman,
Smith, and Irvin.
